A Huge Thank You!!!

Hello Everyone!

It was great to see so many of you yesterday at the Pederson Benefit Run. It was a perfect day filled with amazing people, beautiful trails, great food, and very cool auction items! Thank you for being there yesterday; for your donations, for bringing food, donating to the auction & participating in the auction. And thank you to those who weren't able to join us but sent a donation. Because of your kindness & generosity by the end of the day we raised just over $5000 for Colleen & Larry!

Thank you also to the many of you also donated your time and talents helping to make the day possible!
• Nancy & Bonnie organized the potluck & visitor's center with the help of Tom
• Cheri organized a fun auction which raised $1700
• John created the artwork, helped with blog, got water out on the
course(and off) helped with the auction...and much more
• Donnie got out on his bike to mark and clear the course
• Val helped to brainstorm ideas & get the word out
• Andy made it possible for us to order shirts & donated the entry
for Voyageur Quest which was our highest auction item raising $270
• Matt provided us with yummy Peet's coffee to drink & for auction
• Afton donated the visitor's center, gave us permission to open early &
to be on all of the trails after the snow fell

Remember if you would like to order a shirt you are still able to do that. The proceeds will continue to go to Colleen & Larry. We will also leave up the Paypal link through the end of December if you wanted to donate but didn’t get the chance.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!!

We are looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday. It's going to be a great day and it looks like we could see close to 150 people if not more!

A couple of things to note. If you have Yaktraks, or screw shoes, be sure to bring them with you. You may need them on Saturday. There has not been enough snow on the course for snowshoes yet. I'm not sure that yesterday's snow was enough to make good snowshoing but if you have them you could bring them along just in case!

Also remember that we are providing water at unmanned aid stations in a couple of areas on the course for you to fill up your bottles along the way. We will not provide cups or food on the course. So you will have to carry your own water and food. The course will be minimally marked that day as well. If you feel like you need a map you can print one from the Afton Trail Run site www.aftontrailrun.com

We have some exciting items for the the silent auction. A couple examples to look for: Kurt Neuburger has donated a very rare bottle of beer valued up to $100; Andy & Kim Holak have donated an entry to Voyageur Quest 105 Mile Stage Race valued at $250; John Storkamp is donating race shirts from Afton. These shirts are so cool that people wearing them have been offered money to sell the shirt right off their back!

Happy Trails!

POTLUCK

There are four basic food groups: milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate, and chocolate truffles. ~Author Unknown

Well, maybe in a fantasy world. However, I'm guessing that most of you would like a little more substance, after running a good few miles on the trail! So, as a guideline, please bring a dish according to the first letter in your name:

A-E Appetizers
F-J Breads/Muffins
J-M Salads
N-P Main Dishes
Q-T Sweets
U-Z Beverages - please note that alcohol is not allowed in the park.

Please contact Nancy to let her know what you plan to bring and for any questions. burrgriffth@yahoo.com

Thank you! We look forward to seeing you very soon.

Hi Everyone!

A big thank you to Andy Holak & John Storkamp! Andy reached out with a great idea for making shirts available, with the cool artwork that John Storkamp, and made it happen! You have to check out the link, there are so many options to choose from, I don't know that I could decide on just one. The shirts are available to order on line, they will be shipped directly to you, and all of the proceeds from the shirts will go to Colleen & Larry.

Silent Auction

Hey you guys! We have decided that running and non-running related items would be fun to do for the silent auction. For example Kurt Neuburger is donating a bottle of beer and from what I understand it's worth a pretty penny. So be creative, think outside the box. :)
Here is what I need from you.....if you have something that you would like to donate email me with what the item is, a brief description of the item and what it's retail value is. My hope is to have bid sheets ready to go the morning of the run, then the only thing to do is set out the items, place the bid sheets, and watch as people out bid each other for some cool stuff. I apologize if you have already contacted Alicia with items, and I ask that you please contact me as well. My email address is cheri.storkamp688@gmail.com
I look forward to hearing from those of you who have items to donate.
Thanks much!

Welcome

Hello & Welcome to the Pederson Benefit Run Blog!

The Pederson Benefit Run was created to support our friends Colleen & Larry Pederson, who sustained a tremendous amount of damage to their home during the recent flood in Zumbro Falls, Minnesota. After the flood, many people who were able to do so, volunteered to help Colleen & Larry with cleaning up the mess & the damage left behind after the water receded. The work has seemed endless, with many hours spent cleaning, tearing down walls, ceilings, pulling out the floor and the fireplace, before rebuilding could begin. Still many, especially those who were not able to be there in person, have asked what more can we do? As trail runners we thought let’s do what we do best…Run! And the idea for the benefit run was born.

Over the years Larry and Colleen have become familiar faces in the Trail Running Community, dedicating countless hours of their time so that runners may enjoy the sport they love so much. Each year some of the fun that we get to experience on the trails because of them are The Fall Superior Races, Zumbro 100 & In Yan Teopa. Larry also founded the Upper Midwest Trail Runners Association, visit the website for further information about UMTR and the races they direct http://www.uppermidwesttrailrunners.com/

Now we have an opportunity to give back through the benefit run and almost immediately after the blog was posted last Thursday, we had our 1st $100 donation, and we are already at $500 in donations and pledges! We will continue to post updates on this site so please check back frequently to find out further information about the potluck, silent auction, who’s running, etc…
